Turquoise & Gemstone Cabochons for Jewelry Makers and Artisans

Frequently Asked Questions About All Items

What is turquoise?
Turquoise is a hydrated copper aluminum phosphate mineral that forms in arid regions where copper-bearing groundwater seeps through volcanic rock. It is prized for its distinctive blue-to-green color and has been used in jewelry and ceremonial work for thousands of years across many cultures.
How do you tell if turquoise is real?
Ask the seller for the mine name, the treatment disclosure (natural, stabilized, enhanced, dyed, or reconstituted), and the backing information. A reputable seller will answer specifically. Real turquoise also has noticeable weight — block and reconstituted material often feels lighter for its size.
What sizes of turquoise cabochons do you sell?
Our inventory ranges from small 6x4mm accent stones to large 40mm+ statement cabs. Every listing shows the exact dimensions and includes a U.S. dime (17.91mm) in the photo for scale reference.
What is the difference between natural and stabilized turquoise?
Natural turquoise is untreated and unaltered. Stabilized turquoise has been infused with a clear resin under pressure to harden the stone and lock its color. Stabilized stones are typically 1–2 points harder on the Mohs scale and cut more predictably for everyday jewelry. Both are clearly labeled in every listing.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. We ship worldwide. U.S. orders over $100 ship free; international orders ship at a $25 flat rate.
What is the price for — one stone or the whole lot in the photo?
The listed price is for everything shown in the photo. If a listing shows five cabs, you receive all five for the listed price. Lots are how working silversmiths build inventory at sustainable cost.
